Lucas Leiva is working hard in the gym in a bid to be fully fit for the new Premier League season.

The 27-year-old midfielder isn’t part of Dunga’s Brazil squad for the Copa America in Chile this summer.

While his Liverpool team-mates are soaking up the sun in foreign climes such as party hotpsot Ibiza, Lucas is working on his strength and conditioning.

And the Brazil international posted a clip from a recent gym session on his Instagram page on Thursday night.

Lucas wrote the following caption: “Keep working !!! @timevilleroy @leonelvilleroy”

Last week, the South American midfielder Lucas uploaded a video of a series of runs on what appears to be his farm.

Lucas posted: “Training at the farm, looking forward for next season.”

The Liverpool midfielder is facing a battle to secure a place in Brendan Rodgers’s starting line-up next season following the signing of James Milner.

He experienced an injury-hit season due to a groin problem before the South American made a successful return in the second half of the season.

Lucas made 20 Premier League appearances for the 18-time English champions last season as he helped Liverpool go on a lengthy unbeaten run before injury struck.
