Abou Diaby sends message to Arsenal fans after exit

Abou Diaby sends his regards to Arsenal fans after he joined Marseille on a free transfer

Abou Diaby has taken to social media to thank Arsenal fans for their support over the years after the French midfielder joined Marseille this week.

The 29-year-old was a free agent after being deemed surplus to requirements at The Emirates following an injury-hit career with the north London club.

Diaby played 180 matches for Arsenal, scoring 19 goals and notching up 16 assists, but his recent injury struggles meant that he only made 17 senior appearances for the Gunners over the last three seasons.

Diaby, who only featured once last season, posted the following update on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon:

Arsenal take on Chelsea in Sunday’s Community Shield clash at Wembley before preparing for their Premier League opener against West Ham United at Emirates Stadium the following weekend.

The Gunners finished third and retained their FA Cup title last season.
