The 24-year-old full-back penned a five-year deal with the 18-time English champions on Wednesday after Liverpool agreed a £12.5m deal with Southampton for the defender’s services.
He’s as solid as they come for a right-back and getting forward, he’s got goals in his locker
Clyne will compete with Liverpool youth graduate Jon Flanagan and on-loan Atletico Madrid youngster Javier Manquillo for the right-back spot in Brendan Rodgers’s first-team.
And Lallana, who played with Clyne for two seasons at St Mary’s before his £25m move to Liverpool last summer, is confident the England international can be a success at Anfield.
“It’s a massive signing for us,” Lallana told Liverpool’s website.
“To manage to persuade him to sign for Liverpool – as I’m sure there would have been other top clubs, and even European clubs interested in him – is a great coup for us.
“When Southampton signed him from Palace you could see he had potential.
“Since then, he’s developed and learnt the game – he’s turned from a kid into a man on the pitch.
“He’s as solid as they come for a right-back and getting forward, he’s got goals in his locker.
“In one versus one situations defensively, he’s the kind of full-back you just don’t want to come up against.”
The England full-back has scored a respectable five goals in 104 appearances for the south coast club during a three-year stay at St Mary’s.
Liverpool have already signed Brazil international Roberto Firmino, Manchester City midfielder James Milner, Burnley striker Danny Ings, Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan and Charlton Athletic defender Joe Gomez this summer.
