Angel di Maria could be tempted into a summer transfer to Manchester United this summer, according to former Red Devils defender Mikael Silvestre.

The Argentina international’s future at Old Trafford has been a subject of speculation this summer after he failed to live up to his £59.7m price-tag last season.

Di Maria scored just four goals in 32 appearances for Louis van Gaal’s men last season as the Red Devils finished fourth in the Premier League.

And former United man Silvestre feels that the winger could be tempted into a transfer to the Ligue 1 outfit should PSG make an official offer for the player.

Silvestre told Sky Sports News HQ: “Over the years it’s been difficult for South American players to adapt to the Premier League. I think the conditions, the culture and the demands of the Premier League in terms of physique and attitude… I think it’s challenging.

“Even top players find it sometimes difficult. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was also tempted to go to PSG. Let’s be frank, Ligue 1 in France is not the Premier League.

“In terms of football you can’t expect the same dimension, but Paris is a big club now.”

Di Maria joined up with his Manchester United team-mates on their pre-season tour of the USA in recent days.

Manchester United kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the season.
