Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger runs the rule over Man United signings
Arsene Wenger believes that Manchester United have made some good signings this summer
Arsene Wenger admits that Manchester United have landed two “top-class” players after the Red Devils continued their recent spending spree on Monday.
United completed a deal to sign Italy defender Matteo Darmian from Torino on Saturday as Louis van Gaal bolstered his rearguard options at the club.
The Red Devils, who finished fourth in the table last season, then swiftly announced that they had agreed a deal to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich over the weekend.
United then confirmed that they had concluded a deal to sign reported Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton on Monday as the France midfielder became Van Gaal’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrival of Memphis Depay last month.
Wenger insists that he was not surprised to see United be so active in the market and says he will be watching closely to see how the new recruits fit in at Old Trafford.
Wenger told Arsenal’s website: “We knew they wouldn’t be happy with finishing outside the top three, they will respond.
“They have made some interesting signings. They came out of the season thinking they have to rebuild their midfield, and they did it by buying two important players – Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin. They are two top-class players. One who is now coming up to the top level – Schneiderlin, and one who has done it all.
“It will be interesting to see how they mix with the other players.”
