Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey lifts lid on his best-ever goal
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey discusses his best goal against Galatasaray in the Champions League last season
Aaron Ramsey says his strike against Galatasaray ranks as the Arsenal midfielder’s best goal in his blossoming career so far.
The Wales international is no stranger to an impressive goal with a brilliant volley for Wales Under-21 side in 2008 and a memorable goal against Liverpool at The Emirates in 2013 ranking amongst his best efforts.
Ramsey, who moved to The Emirates from Cardiff City in 2008, only managed to score 10 times in all competitions last season as he fell six short of his prolific tally for the 2013/14 campaign.
But the Gunners midfielder did score what he has described as his best goal last term after the 24-year-old midfielder netted the long-range strike in a 4-1 victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League group stage last November.
“My favourite goal has to be the one against Galatasaray,” said Ramsey, speaking at a New Balance Football event in central London on Wednesday.
“That’s the best goal I ever scored. After the game I thought it was a lot closer then I watched on the replay and realised how far I was out. It was one of those where I thought ‘why not?’ and if it goes 100 yards over then we’ll get back into shape but thankfully it went in the top corner.”
Ramsey played his part in Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph in May as Arsene Wenger’s retained their crown thanks to a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa at Wembley.
