Arsenal have suffered a blow in their reported pursuit of Karim Benzema after the player’s agent insisted that his client has no intention of leaving Real Madrid this summer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a big-money swoop for the France international in recent days as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options at Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.

Arsenal were reported to be preparing a bid for the Real Madrid star to tempt him to the Premier League.

However, it appears that the 27-year-old is set to stay with the Spanish club beyond the summer, if his agent’s latest comments are anything to go by.

Karim Djaziri told Sky Sports News HQ: “Karim is very happy at Real Madrid and he will be a Real Madrid player by the end of this transfer window, 1,000 per cent.

“Karim is not looking to move anywhere this summer.”

Benzema, who is under contract at Real Madrid until 2019, scored 21 goals in all competitions for the Spanish side last season.

Arsenal are in action against Lyon and Wolfsburg at the Emirates Cup this weekend as the Gunners continue their pre-season prepartions.
