Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger hints at striker signing
Arsene Wenger refuses to rule out the possibility of Arsenal signing a new striker this summer
Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out the possibility of bringing in a new striker to bolster his Arsenal squad ahead of the new season.
The Gunners have been linked with a host of big-name players in recent weeks as Wenger looks to transform his side into genuine Premier League title contenders.
Arsenal have been linked with moves for the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Edin Dzeko in recent days.
If there is a new striker, it will be nice for all the team
Olivier Giroud led the Arsenal front-line for much of last season, and although Wenger remained typically coy when asked about the north London side’s transfer business, he left the door ajar for the possibility of signing a forward this summer.
Asked about the potential of signing a new forward, Wenger told a news conference in Singapore on Saturday: “I’m not honouring this question.
“I’m trying to focus on my pre-season preparations. We are doing well together with a really good [cohesion] and the most important for me is that the team is always improving.
“If there is a new striker, it will be nice for all the team, because competition is good for everyone.”
Arsenal take on Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley next month, before their Premier League clash against West Ham United at Emirates Stadium on the opening weekend of the season.
