Arsenal transfers: Felipe Melo hands Gunners boost

Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo confirms he is looking to leave Turkey amid reported interest from Arsenal

Felipe Melo says he is looking to move away from Galatasaray this summer amid reported interest from Arsenal.

The Brazil international has spent the past four seasons at the Turkish side after he left Serie A champions Juventus in 2011.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder has scored 15 goals in 110 games in the Turkish top-flight.

However, Melo, who has been linked with a switch to The Emirates this summer, spoke about his desire to make a change in his career.

“My family are not happy in Turkey, they don’t want to stay here. It’s a nice place, but we’ve found it difficult here,” Melo is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.

“Before I wear a shirt, my family must be convinced, but if I don’t find an agreement with another club then I’ll stay here.

“As long as I’m here I’ll give everything for this shirt.”

Melo has won three Super Lig titles, two Turkish Cups and two Super Cups during his four-year stint at Turk Telecom Arena.

The South American has netted twice in 22 caps for Brazil following his debut for A Selecao in 2009.

The midfielder has played for nine different clubs during his career, including Mallorca, Fiorentina, Juventus and Galatasaray.
