Arsenal transfers: Gunners get green light to sign Gonzalo Higuain
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentis suggests that he would be keen on selling Gonzalo Higain this summer
Arsenal have been handed a huge boost in their reported pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain after Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentis reportedly declared that he is ready to cash in on the striker.
The north London side have long been touted as a possible destination for the Argentina forward, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli in recent weeks.
Higuain is believed to be keen on a move away from Napoli after the Italian club’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Now, it looks as if the striker could be on his way out of the club – but only if a potential buyer shells out £64.7m for the player.
De Laurentiis is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “Sell Higuain for €90 million (£64.7m)? I’d like to sell him.
“That way I can buy eight players for the club.”
Higuain, who was also heavily linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, scored 18 goals and made seven assists in 37 Serie A games for Napoli last season but is apparently keen on a summer transfer away from the Italian club.
