Cesc Fabregas: Why I will always have love for Arsenal
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas insists that he will always have love for Arsenal
Cesc Fabregas has insisted that he will always feel “love” towards Arsenal despite having joined the Gunners’ local rivals Chelsea last summer.
The 28-year-old Spain international opted to move to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona last June after being deemed surplus to requirements at his boyhood club Barcelona.
Former Arsenal captain Fabregas spent eight years at the north London club before returning to Barcelona back in the summer of 2011.
Fabregas received a hostile reception from Arsenal fans when he featured for the Blues in the goalless draw at The Emirates back in April.
The midfielder could be set to endure a similar reaction from supporters in Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Arsene Wenger’s men at Wembley.
However, the Spain international insists that he will always hold Arsenal in high regard and continues to look back at his time at The Emirates fondly.
Midfielder Fabregas is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo: “Whatever it is, it is. The love I have for that club will never change whatever happens and what is the most important is what I have with me from my time there.
“The rest doesn’t matter, I have great memories, love and respect for the club. You will never hear anything bad from me about them.”
Fabregas made 303 appearances for Arsenal.
