As Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in the Wimbledon men’s singles final on Sunday, he took to Instagram to share his happiness at not only celebrating taking the Wimbledon title, but also his first anniversary with his wife
The Serb posted the photo above after winning his ninth Grand Slam and wrote: “Grateful for this moment! I am so happy and proud and fulfilled! One huge Thank You to my team, to you my #NoleFam and to all the people cheering for me and supporting me! You know, it seems like tennis is a team sport after all, and we all are one team :) #NoleTeam”
Djokovic’s coach Boris Becker also used Instagram to praise Djokovic’s “dedication, commitment, quality” after his four-set victory over Federer on Centre Court.
Elsewhere, ladies’ victor Serena Williams shared her excitement at adding the Wimbledon trophy to this year’s collection, whilst sister Venus praised her sister’s victory.
She shared the picture below and wrote: “This does not happen every day or every year. I am so happy to hold this memorable trophy for the 6th time. #SerenaSlam 2.0 #renasarmy thanks for the love and support.”
The winning ladies’ doubles team also celebrated on Instagram, with Martina Hingis (@martinahingis80) ending her 17-year wait for another Wimbledon trophy by taking the doubles title with team-mate Sania Mirza (@mirzasaniar).
