Gary Neville runs rule over Man United signing Matteo Darmian

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Matteo Darmian will be a good signing for the Red Devils

Gary Neville has issued his backing for Manchester United signing Matteo Darmian.

The Italy international penned a four-year deal with the Red Devils on Saturday after he finally completed his £12m move to Old Trafford from Torino following weeks of intense speculation.

England supporters will be familiar with Darmian after the 25-year-old full-back scooped back-to-back man-of-the-match awards against Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions side in 2014 and 2015.

And former United right-back, Neville, who is part of Hodgson’s coaching set-up, believes Darmian will be a success under Louis van Gaal if the defender can translate his form to the Premier League.

Darmian scored two goals and made one assist in 32 Serie A appearances for the Tuscan side last season.

The United signing has earned 14 caps for Italy and featured in all of the Azzurri’s games at the World Cup last summer.

The full-back made his Serie A debut with AC Milan aged 17.
