Jordan Henderson hails Liverpool’s excellent summer signings

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson runs the rule over the Reds's excellent summer signings

Jordan Henderson believes Liverpool have signalled their intent ahead of the new Premier League season with six positive signings.

The Reds wrapped up a £12.5m deal to sign England international Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton on Wednesday afternoon.

The 24-year-old became the Merseyside club’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Roberto Firmino and Danny Ings.

Henderson, who has been widely tipped to succeed Steven Gerrard as Liverpool captain, is excited about the big players that have moved to Anfield in recent weeks.

“It’s a huge boost – all of the signings have been really positive,” Henderson told Liverpool’s website.

“I think we’ve shown good intent early on in the transfer window to go and get the players that we want. They’re big players as well, and I’m sure they’ll have a huge impact on Liverpool and hopefully this season.”

Liverpool splashed out a reported £29m on Brazil international Firmino, who swapped Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for the 18-time English champions.

Milner, Ings and Bogdan all moved to the Reds on free transfers before Brendan Rodgers snapped up Charlton Athletic youngster Joe Gomez.

The five-time European winners spend over £120m on new signings last summer following the departure of Luis Suarez.
