Liverpool legend delights in Christian Benteke signing

Dietmar Hamann uses social media to express his delight at seeing Liverpool sign Christian Benteke from Aston Villa

Dietmar Hamann took to social media on Thursday morning to express his delight at seeing Liverpool sign Christian Benteke from Aston Villa this week.

The Reds wrapped up a £32.5m deal to land the Belgium international forward on Wednesday after weeks of speculation linking the forward with a transfer to Anfield.

Benteke, who has signed a long-term contract with the Merseyside outfit, has become the Reds’ second most expensive signing.

However, despite the hefty transfer fee, former midfielder Hamann feels that Liverpool have pulled off an astute piece of transfer business as Brendan Rodgers looks to transform his side into top-four contenders next season.

Hamann wrote on Twitter:

Benteke scored 49 goals in 101 games for Villa after signing from Genk for £7m in 2012.

Liverpool have also signedDanny Ings from Burnley and Brazil international Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim this summer as Rodgers continues his recruitment drive.
