Liverpool transfers: John Arne Riise criticises Raheem Sterling
Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise says the Reds deserve much more from want-away forward Raheem Sterling
John Arne Riise says Liverpool deserve much more from Raheem Sterling after the Reds forward missed training for the second successive day on Thursday.
The 20-year-old is widely expected to leave the Merseyside outfit this summer after he turned down a £100,000-a-week deal earlier this year.
Sterling has been attracting interest from Liverpool’s rivals Manchester City and Manchester United, although the Reds are thought to be looking for a £50m fee.
Former Liverpool defender Riise, who left Anfield in 2009, criticised Sterling’s approach to forcing through a move away from the five-time European champions.

Sterling’s agent has made it clear that the former Queens Park Rangers youngster won’t be signing a new deal with Liverpool even if the Reds significantly improve their offer.
The City and United target scored seven goals and made seven assists in 35 Premier League appearances last season.
Liverpool have signed six players in the summer transfer window, including Brazil international Roberto Firmino.
