Man United fans ask Manchester Airport to find Matteo Darmian

Manchester United fans contact Manchester Airport in the hope for news of Matteo Darmian's arrival in England

Matteo Darmian may have confirmed his Torino exit this week, but some edgy Manchester United fans have been bombarding Manchester Airport with requests for updates on Twitter.

The Italy international released a statement which bid farewell to Torino and its fans ahead of a widely-reported £11.5m move to the 13-time Premier League champions.

Whilst Torino have also confirmed Darmian is set to move to United and play in the Champions League next season, the Red Devils have remained tight-lipped so far.

And it appears some United supporters have been asking Manchester Airport for updates on any sightings of the Italian defender on their facilities amid reports that the full-back will fly to England to pen his move on Friday.

One mischievous Twitter user suggested Manchester Airport should stand in the arrivals section with a sign for the new signing.

While another United fan was hoping for more than just Darmian to turn up at Manchester Airport.

The 25-year-old versatile defender started all of Italy’s matches at last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Darmian has won back-to-back man-of-the-match awards against Roy Hodgson’s England side in the past 18 months.
