Paul McGrath has sent Christian Benteke a good luck message on Twitter after the striker joined Liverpool from Aston Villa.

The Belgium international put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the five-time European champions on Wednesday after Liverpool activated £32.5m contract release clause in his contract.

Benteke played a vital role in Villa’s escape from relegation last season as he netted 12 times in his last 13 games, which took his overall tally to 49 goals in 102 games during three seasons at the Premier League club.

And former Manchester United and Villa defender McGrath congratulated Benteke on his switch to Liverpool, before he issued a word of warning to the Belgian.

Benteke is Liverpool’s seventh signing of the summer, and the towering striker is also the club’s second most-expensive signing in the Merseyside outfit’s history.
