Man United transfers: Agent delivers Edinson Cavani update
Edinson Cavani's agent hints that the striker is likely to stay at Paris Saint-Germain this summer
Edinson Cavani is not thinking about a transfer away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, despite the speculation linking him with a potential move to Manchester United, his agent has said.
The Uruguay international has been touted as a potential target for the Red Devils in recent weeks as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his attacking options at Old Trafford.
However, it appears that the forward is set to stay and fight for his first-team place at Paris Saint-Germain, if his agent’s latest comments are anything to go by.
Walter Guglielmone told Journal du Dimanche: “This summer Edi has received interest from top clubs who are chasing a centre-forward.
“He hasn’t listened to them because he was given guarantees about his position at the end of last season.
“We have been led to believe that Ibrahimovic will pay further and further away from the box in order to touch the ball more, leaving the striker position for Edi to fill, which was the case several times at the end of 2014-15.
“In such conditions, Edi will be happy at PSG.”
Cavani has been previously linked with a move to Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool over the past 12 months.
He has scored 34 goals in 65 Premier League appearances since his move to PSG from Napoli.
Only Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored more goals than United target Cavani for the Parisian outfit.
However, the 28-year-old striker is reportedly unhappy to be behind the towering Swede in the pecking order at Parc des Princes.
