Man United transfers: Agent discusses Rafael Da Silva’s future
Rafael Da Silva's agent suggests that his client could be set to quit Manchester United this summer
Rafael Da Silva’s agent has suggested that his client would be keen on a transfer to Roma this summer as doubt continues to surround his Manchester United future.
The 25-year-old’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent days after his lack of playing time under new manager Louis van Gaal last season.
Rafael made just six Premier League starts for the Red Devils last season after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian was left out of the United squad for the pre-season tour of the United States this week, further suggesting that he could be on his way out of the club in the transfer window.
Now, Rafael’s agent Cassiano Pereira has hinted that the player is likely to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Pereira told the Daily Express:” Roma would be more than a good option for him and we’d be more than happy to talk to the club.
“Italy would be a great opportunity, especially considering he has a Portuguese passport. However, I must admit that I haven’t heard of any interest from Italian sides in Rafael.
“His contract with Manchester United expires in June 2016 and Louis van Gaal already said he’s not part of the plan, so the player wants to leave and we’re talking to more than one club.
“Fiorentina? That is certainly also another club we’d like. If they call, then we’ll happily talk to them. The player is very interested in playing in Italy.”
The 25-year-old, who has been at United for seven years, only made a handful of appearances last season due to injury, although Van Gaal appeared to prefer winger-turned-defender Antonio Valencia when available over the Brazilian.
