Man United transfers: Ed Woodward delivers update on summer plans
Ed Woodward hints that Manchester United are still looking to bolster their squad in the coming weeks
Ed Woodward has hinted that Manchester United are still looking to add at least two more players to their squad ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.
The Red Devils have already moved quickly to bolster their squad ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.
United have brought in Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin as Van Gaal looks to transform his side into genuine Premier League title contenders next season.
United continue to be linked with a host of players, including the likes of Pedro and Nicolas Otamendi.
And United’s executive vice-chairman Woodward has appeared to indicate that the Red Devils have not yet finished their summer spending spree.
Asked about making more signings, Woodward is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “The sooner the better… because it means Louis can start blending them into the team and getting them used to the training, get used to their colleagues.
“But we’ll see, with transfers, everyone wants to know what’s going to happen, who you’re talking to.
“The reality is we’ve been successful in bringing in four, which is fantastic so far, to the extent others come in, it’s up to Louis.
“We’ll continue to assess what’s out there and assess the squad we’ve got and think about the upcoming season, where we’re obviously going to have more games than last year. We’ll see.”
United, who are currently on a pre-season tour of North America, kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Tottenham Hotspur on 8 August.
