Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal addresses Sergio Ramos reports
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal discusses reports linking the Red Devils with Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos
Louis van Gaal has remained tight-lipped on reports that Manchester United could sign Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.
The Red Devils manager has been linked with a £25m move for the Spain international as the Dutchman attempts to bolster his defensive options at Old Trafford.
Ramos has become embroiled in a contract wrangle with the 10-time European champions in recent months with just under 24 months remaining on his current deal at The Bernabeu.
But Van Gaal, who has signed Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian already this summer, wouldn’t give a clear indication whether Ramos is a United target.
“He’s in the process, but you have to wait and see,” Van Gaal told his media conference on Monday.
“It’s not the striker that the media has written. The transfer period is open until August 31 or September, 2.”
Ramos has been a key part of the Madrid defence over the past 10 years following his move to the Spanish capital from Sevilla in 2005.
The 29-year-old centre-half has won La Liga on three occasions, two Copa del Rey titles and the Champions League.
