Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal delivers Angel di Maria update
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says he doesn't know the whereabouts of Angel di Maria
Louis van Gaal has admitted that he doesn’t know Angel di Maria’s whereabouts ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Argentina international is being heavily linked with a move to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain after a mixed first season at Old Trafford.
Di Maria joined Manchester United in a British record £59.7m deal last summer, but the South American could leave the Red Devils for a mere £29m.
Speaking to the media after his side’s 2-0 defeat by Laurent Blanc’s PSG side on Wednesday night, Van Gaal was asked if he was aware of Di Maria’s movements after the forward failed to join their pre-season tour.
Van Gaal replied: “Maybe you do.”
When the journalist in question replied that he didn’t know Di Maria’s location, Van Gaal added: “I don’t know either.”
The former Benfica winger scored four times in 32 appearances in all competitions last season.
Di Maria won La Liga, the Champions League and two Copa del Rey trophies during a five-year stay at The Bernabeu.
Van Gaal has already signed Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian and Morgan Schneiderlin in the summer transfer window.
