Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal delivers Angel di Maria update

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal gives an update on Angel di Maria

Louis van Gaal says he is counting on Angel di Maria despite reports linking Manchester United’s record signing with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils winger endured a subdued first season at Old Trafford following his British record £59.7m switch from Real Madrid last summer.

Paris Saint-Germain were linked with the Argentina international before he made the switch to the 20-time English champions.

And the Ligue 1 champions have reportedly rekindled their interest amid speculation Di Maria is unhappy in Manchester.

Speaking at his media conference in Seattle on Tuesday, Van Gaal gave an update on Di Maria:

“We shall see because in football it is a process, it is a process for Di Maria and United. I count on him.”

The former Benfica winger scored four times in 32 appearances in all competitions last season.

Di Maria won La Liga, the Champions League and two Copa del Rey trophies during a five-year stay at The Bernabeu.
