Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal delivers Victor Valdes update
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says Victor Valdes will be leaving the club after refusing to play for the reserves
Louis van Gaal says Victor Valdes will be leaving Manchester United after the goalkeeper refused to play for the Under-21 side last season.
The Spain international signed for the Red Devils in the January transfer window despite the present of the club’s reigning player of the year David De Gea.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid which appeared to pave the way for the former Barcelona goalkeeper to take over the No1 spot.
However, Van Gaal revealed that the three-time Champions League winner refused to abide by United’s philopshy and will be leaving Old Trafford.
“Valdes didn’t follow our philosophy. He refused last year to play in our second team. If you don’t follow the philosophy there’s only one way and that’s out,” Van Gaal told his media conference on Wednesday.
Van Gaal added: “”Valdes isn’t here cause he doesn’t follow our philosophy, when you’re not following the principles of our philosophy then you’re out!”
Valdes made two appearances for United in the Premier League following his free transfer earlier this year.
The Spanish shot stopper won six La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and three Champions League titles during his Barcelona career.
