Man United transfers: Louis van Gaal hints at Cristiano Ronaldo bid
Louis van Gaal refuses to rule out a Manchester United move for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer
Louis van Gaal has refused to rule out a Manchester United bid to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford this summer.
The Portugal captain’s future at Real Madrid has been a source of speculation in recent weeks following Rafael Benitez’s appointment as the Spanish club’s new manager.
The former United man has long been linked with a big-money transfer back to Old Trafford, and reports this summer have claimed that Van Gaal is considering bringing the Ballon d’Or winner to the club.
And the Manchester United manager’s latest comments about the prospect of re-signing Ronaldo have done little to quell the speculation suggesting that a move could be on the cards.
Speaking at a news conference in the United States this weekend, Van Gaal said: “Ronaldo to United? I never answer the question because I cannot answer the question.
“I want to. But it is not good for Manchester United, it is not good for the player and it is not good for me.”
United continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 win over Barcelona on Saturday night.
The Red Devils kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend of the season.
