Man United transfers: Matteo Darmian confirms Old Trafford switch

Matteo Darmian appears to confirm that he is set to join Manchester United in the coming days

Matteo Darmian appears set to be confirmed as a Manchester United player in the coming days after the Italy defender said that he is set to quit Torino for a “new adventure”.

The defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League club in recent weeks as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his rearguard options ahead of his second season in charge at the club.

Now, it appears that Darmian is set to be confirmed as a Red Devils player after he was pictured heading to Manchester on Friday.

“I’m very excited, we’ll face this new adventure,” Darmian is quoted as saying by www.gianlucadimarzio.com. “It’s a dream, I’m superstitious so I won’t say anything until the signatures, let’s wait.

“I say thank you to Torino and their fans who have been great these years.”

The 25-year-old versatile defender started all of Italy’s matches at last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

United boss Van Gaal is thought to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements as he looks to transform his Red Devils side into genuine Premier League title contenders next season.

The 20-time English champions finished in fourth place last season and sealed their return to the Champions League.
