Gaitan has long been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford, and the speculation linking him with a big-money move to the English club has once again gathered pace during the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old has also reportedly attracted interest from Spanish sides Atletico Madrid and Valencia this summer as his future at Benfica continues to be a source of speculation.
But it now appears that Gaitan could end up staying at Benfica beyond the summer if his latest comments are anything to go by.
Asked about whether he could leave Benfica this summer, Gaitan is quoted as saying by SAPO Desporto: “Where would I go?”
Gaitan’s agent recently revealed that Manchester United were interested in signing his client this summer.
Gaitan scored four goals in 27 league appearances for Benfica last season and also featured five times in the Champions League for the Portuguese side.
