Man United transfers: Pep Guardiola gives Bastian Schweinsteiger update

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola says Man United target Bastian Schweinsteiger is part of his plans

Pep Guardiola says Manchester United target Bastian Schweinsteiger is part of his plans at Bayern Munich.

The Germany international has emerged as a target for the Red Devils in recent weeks after the midfielder’s contract talks with the Bundesliga champions stalled.

The 31-year-old Bayern man has just under a year remaining on his current deal with the German champions.

Schweinsteiger has spent the past couple of weeks in England as the World Cup winner supported his fiancee Ana Ivanovic with her Wimbledon preparations.

However, it appears the Bayern legend won’t be making his move to England permanent after Guardiola insisted that the midfielder does have a future at the German club.

“Bastian Schweinsteiger’s future depends on him,” Guardiola told a news conference. “I still plan with him. I want him to stay.

“Bastian Schweinsteiger makes the decision. If he decides to stay I will be very happy to have his quality in my team.”

The Germany midfielder has scored 67 goals in 500 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga champions during the 30-year-old’s 11-season career at Bayern.

Last week, the midfielder was snapped at Wimbledon as Ivanovic practised at SW19.
