Manchester United have completed the signing of Matteo Darmian from Torino

Manchester United have completed the signing of Matteo Darmian from Torino, the Serie A club have announced.

The Italy defender was due to undergo a medical with the Red Devils this weekend and it now appears that he has completed his move to the Premier League outfit.

A Torino statement read: “Torino Football Club has announced the sale of Matteo Darmian to Manchester United on a permanent deal.

“President Urbano Cairo would like to thank Matteo Darmian for the dedication and professionalism he has shown during his time at the club.

“Everyone at Torini wishes Matteo all the best for his extraordinary new experience.”

Manchester United earlier on Saturday announced a deal to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old versatile defender started all of Italy’s matches at last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

United boss Van Gaal is thought to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements as he looks to transform his Red Devils side into genuine Premier League title contenders next season.

The 20-time English champions finished in fourth place last season and sealed their return to the Champions League.

United kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Tottenham next month.
