Man United transfers: Three centre-halves Louis van Gaal should target
Three centre-halves Louis van Gaal could sign for Manchester United in the summer transfer window
The 27-year-old has emerged on Manchester United’s radar as Louis van Gaal looks to strengthen his defence during the summer transfer window. He is at a great age for a centre-half and has impressed many with his die-hard attitude for Valencia. He was named in the La Liga team of the season in 2014/15. He recently showed his great talent as a top centre-half and shows he is commanding in the air. He could be a realistic option for United, but they face competition from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City for his signature. He would cost around £25m for United but could become a valuable player in their quest for trophies next season.
Stefan de Vrij
Manager Van Gaal has always valued Dutch international players and Stefan de Vrij would fit that description. Having significantly impressed in the World Cup last summer, he has proved to be a top summer target for many clubs. He vastly improved with Lazio in Serie A and this was evident to see by many fans, including United. He would cost in the region of £18.3m, which could be the cheapest option for United. Van Gaal clearly rates the 23-year-old as he handed him a starring role in ever game in the World Cup. The player has expressed his desire to stay at Lazio; Van Gaal may have to use his art of persuasion.
John Stones has gained the attention of many English club’s this summer, with Chelsea so far leading the race. United may step in soon to sign the 21-year-old Everton star. Van Gaal certainly would give him more first-team football and he could help improve their defence. Stones was a United fan as a boy and they have been impressed with his progression in particular his calmness under pressure and ability on the ball. Everton want at least £34m for the player, but United could meet their valuations, as it has been mentioned that this is Red Devils’s most weakest area in their squad.
