Mourinho delivers latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Arsenal test
Jose Mourinho is expecting both Gary Cahill and Diego Costa to be fit to face Arsenal on Sunday
Jose Mourinho is expecting both Gary Cahill and Diego Costa to be fit to face Arsenal in Sunday’s Community Shield clash at Wembley.
The duo both picked up injuries during Chelsea’s pre-season victory over Barcelona on penalties on Tuesday night as Mourinho’s men completed their final game of their tour of North America.
Cahill was forced off late on in the game with a suspected broken nose, while Costa suffered a slight hamstring problem.
However, the Chelsea manager is hopeful that both players will be available when his side take on the FA Cup winners at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Mourinho said: “Cahill has a chance of a broken nose, maybe yes, maybe no. If no, perfect. If yes, he will get a mask tomorrow to be ready for Sunday.
“Diego felt a little thing in his hamstring. We believe it is just a feeling, no more than that, but we have to wait.”
