Petr Cech can help Arsenal win the title, declares Gunners legend

Robert Pires says that Petr Cech could turn out to be a key signing for Arsenal

Robert Pires believes that Petr Cech is capable of playing a key role in helping Arsenal win the Premier League title next season.

The Gunners, who finished third last season, completed a deal for the 33-year-old goalkeeper earlier this month as Arsene Wenger added some further experience to his squad ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.

Cech won four Premier League titles during his trophy-laden spell at Chelsea and Pires feels that the goalkeeper’s past glory can help inspire the north London side to the top-flight crown next term.

Pires told Sky Sports News HQ: “This is a player who they and has won the title, so yes, he can help them win the title..

“Of course it will be very tough because you have Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, but of course, they have a good chance.

“I hope [the signing] will work, because he can make a big difference. It is good news for Arsenal the signing of Petr Cech.”

Goalkeeper Cech, who fell behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge last season, has more than 114 caps for the Czech Republic and joined Chelsea from Rennes back in 2004.
