Liverpool youngster Bobby Adekanye says he is pleased to make an assist on his debut for the Reds Under-21 side
Bobby Adekanye has taken to Instagram to express his delight at his contribution on his debut for Liverpool’s Under-21 side in Cork on Saturday evening.
The Dutch wonderkid completed a move to the Merseyside outfit from Barcelona last month ahead of the chance to return to the Netherlands with Ajax and PSV Eindhoven interested.
Adekanye made his first start for Liverpool’s development squad in the Republic of Ireland, and it took just 16 minutes for the Dutch Under-16 international to make an impact.
The Liverpool youngster drifted past City trialist Newadi Saki before he teed up Toni Gomes before Yan Dhanda sealed a 2-0 victory over Cork City at Turner’s Cross.
Adekanye wrote on his Instagram page: “Nice to make my debut for Liverpool FC yesterday and win 2-0 and give a assist . Fans were great tonight, thanks for all the support. #LFC #YNWA”
The 16-year-old added a second action post to the photo-sharing app as he revelled in his first game in a Liverpool shirt.
The Dutch teenager added: “Pre season #LFC”
The Ajax and PSV target has been likened to former Chelsea forward Arjen Robben.
