Jerome Boateng may be a former Manchester City player, but the Bayern Munich defender is hoping Bastian Schweinsteiger’s move to Manchester United works out for all parties.

The Germany international has reportedly put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the 20-time English champions after months of speculation linking the midfielder with a switch to Old Trafford.

Schweinsteiger, who is speculated to have commanded a £11m transfer fee, played alongside Boateng for four seasons after the centre-halve moved to the Allianz Arena from City in 2011.

Even though Boateng is a former Citizens player, the 26-year-old forgot about his former club’s rivalry with the Red Devils to wish Schweinsteiger good luck with his Premier League move.

Boateng wrote on his Instagram page: “#DankeBasti @bastianschweinsteiger Good luck @manchesterunited”

Boateng made 24 appearances in all competitions for City during his one-year stay at The Etihad before he sealed a return to Germany.
