Fabio Borini is clearly delighted to have Christian Benteke as a new team-mate after the Liverpool signing trained at Melwood for the first time on Thursday.

The Belgium international signed a long-term deal with the five-time European champions after the Reds agreed a £32.5m fee with FA Cup runners-up Aston Villa.

Benteke’s arrival means Borini will fall even further down the pecking order in Brendan Rodgers’s squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

However, the Italy forward didn’t appear too concerned as he seemingly celebrated a training-ground victory with Benteke and Emre Can.

Borini wrote on his Instagram page: “👊👊 boom boom! 💣💣 @ec2323 @christianbenteke25”

Rodgers has markedly improved his attacking options at the club over the summer following the arrivals of Benteke and Danny Ings.

The Northern Irishman already has Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert all striking options in the Liverpool squad.

The Reds boss has also signed James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Nathaniel Clyne in the summer transfer window.
