Karim Benzema is all smiles in a Real Madrid shirt amid the transfer speculation linking him with Arsenal

Karim Benzema appears to have signalled his intention to stay at Real Madrid beyond the summer by posting a picture of himself in the Spanish side’s shirt on Wednesday morning.

The France international has been heavily linked with a transfer to Arsenal in recent days as Arsene Wenger considers bolstering his attacking options at Emirates Stadium.

Benzema sent the social media transfer rumour mill into overdrive on Tuesday as he posted a picture of himself on a plane along with a cryptic message.

However, it appears that the forward was flying to China to fulfil some sponsor obligations ahead of the new season.

Benzema posted the picture above of himself in Shanghai on his Instagram account and wrote: “Adidas – Shanghai”
