Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is rooting for Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final
Roger Federer can settle his pre-final nerves safe in the knowledge that his mate Jamie Carragher is rooting for the Swiss ace against Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon showpiece.
The 17-time Grand Slam winner came face-to-face with the Liverpool legend during the Merseyside outfit’s pre-season tour of Switzerland in 2009.
Carragher, who hung up his boots in 2013 after a decorated 17-year career, came up against Federer’s beloved Basel side a couple of times in Europe.
But the Sky Sports pundits appears to count the seven-time Wimbledon champion in his circle of friends after his latest Instagram post on Sunday.
Carragher wrote, very much tongue in cheek, on the photo-sharing app: “Good luck to my mate Roger Federer in the Wimbledon Tennis final today!”
Federer has dropped just one set en route to the Wimbledon showpiece after having turned back the clock with some majestic performances in his previous six games.
The world number two, who beat Andy Murray in straight sets in the semi-final on Friday, has only been broken once in the tournament.
