Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva pays tribute to the Da Silva twins after their 25th birthday on Thursday
Lucas Leiva cast aside the Liverpool-Manchester United rivalry to wish the Da Silva twins a happy 25th birthday on Instagram on Thursday night.
The Reds midfielder has become firm friends with Fabio and Rafael since their respective moves from Brazil to England almost eight years ago, occasionally meeting up with the defenders for dinner.
Rafael is currently battling to salvage his United career after he was used sparingly under Louis van Gaal during an injury-hit 2014/15 season.
His twin brother, Fabio, meanwhile is looking to help Cardiff City achieve promotion to the Premier League after he left United in 2013.
The Liverpool midfielder posted the above photo and wrote the following caption on his Instagram page: “Congratulations my friends, may God bless you for many years!!!”
Lucas has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside outfit in recent weeks amid reported interest from Serie A side Inter Milan.
The Reds finished in sixth place last season after a disappointing end to the campaign.
