Manchester United confirm that they have agreed a deal to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich

Manchester United have announced the signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich, subject to a medical and personal terms.

The Red Devils confirmed the news via a post on social media and the club’s official website on Saturday afternoon after days of speculation linking the World Cup winner with a transfer to the Premier League outfit.

United posted the picture above on their official Instagram account and wrote: “#mufc has reached an agreement to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich, subject to a medical and personal terms. A further announcement will be made when the process is complete.”

Schweinsteiger has one year remaining on his current Bayern contract and it is understood that he will command a transfer fee in the region of £12m.

The Germany midfielder has scored 67 goals in 500 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga champions.

Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United side returned to pre-season training last week as they begun their preparations for the forthcoming Premier League season.

Schweinsteiger is set to become United’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven.
