And the Spain international spent an afternoon at the internet search engine’s headquarters in San Francisco learning about the company with his Manchester United team-mates.

Louis van Gaal’s squad have headed to the west coast ahead of their next game against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

And Mata was joined by new signings Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian as well as his close pal Ander Herrera and Daley Blind for a snap next to the Google sign in Googleplex.

Mata wrote on Instagram: “Thanks for an inspiring afternoon, @google. #dreambig”

The former Chelsea playmaker scored United’s opener in a 3-1 victory over Major League Soccer outfit San Jose Earthquakes on Tuesday night.

Mata has netted 16 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils following his £37.1m move to Old Trafford in 2013.
