Memphis Depay enjoyed a chat with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku as Manchester United continue their preparations for the new season.

The new Manchester United signing is set to face the Belgium international in the Premier League for the first time at Goodison Park on 17 October.

The pair are childhood friends and Depay is looking forward to coming up against the Everton man later in the season.

Depay shared the picture above on his Instagram account on Monday morning and wrote: “Me and @romelulukakubolingoli10 in an conversation. See you soon B”

The post inevitably prompted speculation on social media that Manchester United were considering making a transfer bid for the Everton forward.

Depay helped to fire PSV to the Eredivisie title last season, ending Ajax’s spell of dominance in the Dutch top flight.

The Dutch forward scored 22 goals and made eight assists in 27 Eredivisie appearances this term.
