Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard issues message of support for new Reds striker Danny Ings
Steven Gerrard may be a LA Galaxy player now, but the midfielder is still keeping a close eye on affairs at Liverpool.
The retired England captain called time on his decorated 17-year career at Anfield in May after having won the Champions League, Uefa Cup, three FA Cups and three League Cups.
Gerrard linked up with his new Galaxy team-mates last week, whilst Burnley striker Danny Ings got to know his new Liverpool colleagues following his free transfer.
And the former Reds skipper took to his Instagram page to upload a post dedicated to the England Under-21 international.
Gerrard wrote: “Hope this fella bangs loads of goals in for the Reds .. Good luck to Danny Ings”
Ings cut his holidays short after the European Under-21 championship to link up with his new Liverpool team-mates on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old scored 11 goals in 35 Premier League appearances for Sean Dyche’s Burnley side last season.
In fact, Ings, who was also linked with a switch to Tottenham Hotspur, has netted 31 times in his last 75 games for the Clarets.
