LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard shows off his Liverpool shin guards during his full Major League Soccer debut

Steven Gerrard may have made a dream start to his LA Galaxy career, but the former England captain is still a Liverpool man at heart.

The former Reds skipper scored a goal, made an assist and won a penalty on his full debut as LA Galaxy eased to a thrilling 5-2 victory over San Jose Earthquakes on Friday night.

Gerrard moved to the Major League Soccer side earlier this summer after the 35-year-old opted to call time on his Liverpool career after 17 decorated years at Anfield.

And the former Reds skipper is still holding onto some of his old gear after Gerrard was spotted wearing Liverpool shin pads during the seven-goal thriller.

Gerrard posted the above screenshot on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption: “Once a red ….❤️”

The Liverpool legend was still upstaged by former Reds striker and LA Galaxy captain Robbie Keane, who scored an impressive hat-trick in his side’s 5-2 win.
