Roberto Soldado took to Instagram to wish Vlad Chircihes good luck after the defender swapped Tottenham Hotspur for Napoli on Thursday.

The Romania international completed a move to the Serie A side for an undisclosed fee after struggling to make an impact under Mauricio Pochettino last season.

The centre-half has made just 43 appearances in all competitions for the north London side after he moved to White Hart Lane from Steaua Bucharest in a £6.7m deal in 2013.

And Soldado, who was signed by former manager Andre Villas-Boas in the same transfer window as Chircihes in 2013, paid tribute to his team-mate after his move.

Soldado wrote on the photo-sharing app: “All the best to my romanian brother @vladchiriches Great man and great professional. Come on gladiator!! ”

Spurs have sold two centre-halves this summer after former captain Younes Kaboul completed a reported £8m switch to Sunderland earlier this month.

Pochettino, who was appointed as Tim Sherwood’s successor last summer, has signed Belgium international Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid last summer.
