It is well known that Arsenal has faced a multitude of injury problems. Since 2004 Arsenal players have lost 13,161 days due to injury. Since the arrival of conditioning specialist Shad Forsythe, there has been a significant drop in the number of muscular injures and others. Last season, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain endured lengthy periods on the sidelines but Wenger is confident these issues have been aired out. The signs so far are positive, with Wilshere and Oxlade-Chamberlain coming into match fitness ahead of the new season. It is a major step forward compared to their 2013-14 season, where the first team squad suffered 86 injuries. If Arsenal can prevent such problems then they can easily become title contenders.
For years Arsenal were deemed as a ‘selling club’ as their best players left in the wake of their move to Emirates Stadium. Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie and Bacary Sagna all left the club for pastures new. However, since 2013 and with the stadium now paid off, the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and lately Petr Cech have arrived at the club. However, it is not only about acquiring world-class players, Wenger’s star men are staying put. The British core of Theo Walcott, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and Kieran Gibbs seem to be loyal and committed to the cause. Having won back-to-back FA Cups and finishing third in the league last season, Arsenal are moving forward with their best assets intact. Arsenal can be a formidable force in the title race next term.
Arsenal fans have craved a world-class goalkeeper since Invincibles legend Jens Lehmann’s exit. Arsenal has lacked dominance in their defensive line and Cech will enormously strengthen their defensive line. Arsenal have suffered at the back in previous seasons and Having a keeper like Cech will inspire confidence. Cech has already shown what he is likely to give Arsenal next season. Against Everton in Singapore he gave the team that added authority. There were slight glimpses of how Cech has managed to be deemed as among the world’s very best goalkeepers and one of the Premier League greats. Managers, pundits, players, fans have all spoken about how Cech will hugely benefit Arsenal in the coming seasons. John Terry has stated that Cech could give Arsenal an extra 15 points a season. This could well be the case. Cech has big-game experience, having won the league with Chelsea and also the Champions League. His experience and attitude can only mean a good thing to Arsenal.
