Three reasons why Liverpool should sell Raheem Sterling
Three reasons why Liverpool should sell Man United target Raheem Sterling this summer
Raheem Sterling is one of the finer products in English football at the moment so it is understandable why he is linked with a big money move to numerous clubs. He is currently tipped for a move in excess of £50m, a fee that any club would welcome to receive for a player they bought for a mere £4m from QPR. If Liverpool want to gain any hope of signing players that signify their intent to both challenge for the title and get Champions League football back then they need to sell Sterling sooner rather than later. The money raised will benefit Liverpool in the long-term regardless of what Sterling has brought to the club.
Can’t afford to waste time
Sterling’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2017 so Liverpool need to resolve the current situation reasonably fast. Liverpool need to accept that Sterling just does not want to play for the club any more. Sterling may have been in brilliant form in the past couple of years for the club but he has already rejected two lucrative contract offers and has said he does not want to go on their pre-season tour to Asia. So it just makes sense that Liverpool should listen to Sterling’s wishes to leave the club and listen to the offers being made for the winger.
With Steven Gerrard moving to LA Galaxy, the dressing room atmosphere will already be at an all-time low and with Sterling insisting on a transfer, it is causing a disruption to pre-season preparations. Brendan Rodgers needs to address this matter. A woeful season added with a legend leaving the club will already put a massive dent to the morale within the dressing room so with Sterling constantly nagging and winding about a move away from Anfield will not help the manager’s mission to revive harmony within the squad.
