A move to Manchester United would provide a new challenge for the 29-year-old who has been with Los Blancos since 2005. During his time with the club, he has won La Liga three times, the Copa del Rey twice and the Champions League. He has also won the World Cup and the European championship twice. The centre-half has plenty of honours to his name but could add several more with one of the best football clubs in the world. He brings experience, which would be a massive plus for United.
The lure of the Premier League is another reason why Ramos should make the move. The English top-flight has tempted many players from the Spanish league over the years and the challenge of playing in England could see Ramos making the switch from the Bernabeu to Old Trafford. The Spanish and English league have been touted as the best two leagues to compete in which is why many players have switched between the two over the years. However, Madrid’s president Florentino Perez has stated he wants around £60m for his club captain after initially rejecting United’s £28.3m offer.
United manager Louis van Gaal is determined to get his man and the Red Devils are reportedly preparing a second offer. If the move does go ahead, Ramos could become the eighth player to play for both teams, which is another reason as to why the deal should be completed. He will join the likes of David Beckham, Michael Owen, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Gabriel Heinze, Laurie Cunningham, Javier Hernandez and recent Fifa Ballon D’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo. This elite list contains some of the best players to grace the football pitch, and Ramos could become one of them. The Spanish international has plenty of playing years left and could become a Manchester great along with a Real Madrid legacy.
