Rio Ferdinand has taken to Instagram to launch a musical appeal to David De Gea in a bid to convince the goalkeeper to stay at Manchester United.

The Spain international’s future at Old Trafford appears in doubt just weeks ahead of the Premier League’s return amid reports of an imminent move to Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms with the 10-time European champions and Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos is set to head to Old Trafford as part of the deal.

But Ferdinand, with the help of KWS’s classic hit, ‘Please Don’t Go’, made a lighthearted appeal to his former United team-mate to stay at the club.

Ferdinand posted the above video and wrote: “Got a message for you @d_degeaofficial … Please don’t go!!! ❤️ #mufc”

The Spain goalkeeper made 37 Premier League appearances during Louis van Gaal’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.
