Wimbledon 2015: Roger Federer ‘feeling fresh’ ahead of Andy Murray test
Roger Federer has warned Andy Murray that he is 'feeling fresh' ahead of their Wimbledon semi-final clash
Roger Federer said that he is feeling in good shape after setting up a Wimbledon semi-final clash with Andy Murray on Wednesday.
The seven-times SW19 champion secured a straightforward 6-3 7-5 6-2 win over France’s Gilles Simon to set up a repeat of his 2012 final clash with Murray at the All England Club.
And the 33-year-old is looking forward to coming up against the Scot on Centre Court on Friday.
Federer said: “It brings back those memories of a great summer for both of us and just all the matches we’ve played against one another.
“More importantly for me, I’m very happy to be in the semis again. The road is long getting here. But still I feel like I’m fresh and I’ve got energy left in the tank for hopefully a great match with Andy and then we’ll see.”
Asked about support Murray is likely to receive on Friday, Federer continued: “I just hope the crowd gets into it and enjoys a good match and that we can play well.
“I have received a lot of crowd support over the years, and so has Andy. So it really probably depends a little bit on who is in the crowd there that day and who they prefer to win. But they’re always very friendly and fair.
“I’ve always enjoyed playing here, even against Andy, of course.”
